Meg Morley, house pianist for the British Film Institute, performs live piano accompaniment to John Ford’s western 3 Bad Men. Set during the Dakota land rush, this sweeping western follows three ageing outlaws who seek redemption by protecting a young woman amid the violence and opportunism of frontier expansion. Meg Morley’s live piano performance will bring this silent-era classic to life.
John Ford’s Three Bad Men blends epic spectacle with intimate human drama, anticipating themes that would define his later westerns. Though rooted in silent era melodrama, the film displays remarkable visual fluidity and emotional restraint.
Since performing her first improvised score for silent film in 2016, Meg Morley has regularly played at various international film festivals and has recorded original scores for several DVD releases. Meg is also an established regular performer at The Pocket Film Festival having played at most of our festivals since 2017.
The Pocket Film Festival activities have been made possible with support from Film Hub Midlands through funds from the National Lottery. Film Hub Midlands support people to watch, show, and make films in the Midlands.
